Who Is Skirk?

Skirk is a five-star Hydro claymore user who made her long-awaited debut as a playable character after years of lore appearances tied to Childe's backstory. Trained in the Abyss, Skirk brings a unique kit that blends on-field Hydro damage with mechanics that reward precise rotations. She excels as a main DPS who can also function in quick-swap teams thanks to her burst-heavy playstyle.

Her Elemental Skill releases a forward slash that deals Hydro damage in a wide arc, while her Elemental Burst summons an Abyssal construct that continuously applies Hydro to nearby enemies. This makes her an exceptional driver for Vaporize, Freeze, and Bloom-based team compositions.

Talent Priority

When investing resources into Skirk, prioritise her talents in this order:

  • Elemental Burst > Elemental Skill > Normal Attack

Her Burst accounts for the largest portion of her damage output, scaling aggressively with talent levels. The Elemental Skill is your second priority since it generates energy and deals solid front-loaded damage. Normal Attacks are lowest priority unless you run her as a sustained on-field carry, in which case you can level them alongside her Skill.

Best Weapons

Five-Star Options

  • Her Signature Weapon: As with most limited five-star characters, Skirk's signature claymore is tailor-made for her kit, providing Hydro DMG% and a passive that buffs Elemental Burst damage after using an Elemental Skill. It is her best-in-slot by a comfortable margin.
  • Beacon of the Reed Sea: A strong stat-stick alternative that provides CRIT Rate and conditional ATK% bonuses. Works well if you already own it from a previous weapon banner.
  • Wolf's Gravestone: The ATK% buff from its passive benefits the entire team, and its high base ATK keeps Skirk's personal damage competitive.

Four-Star Options

  • Serpent Spine (Battle Pass): CRIT Rate substat and a stacking damage bonus make this the best four-star option, provided you can maintain stacks with a shielder like Zhongli.
  • Luxurious Sea-Lord: A free event weapon that buffs Elemental Burst damage directly. Surprisingly effective and an excellent budget choice.
  • Prototype Archaic: A craftable fallback with ATK% substat. Not exciting, but universally accessible.

Best Artifact Sets

Primary Recommendation: 4-Piece Heart of Depth

Heart of Depth remains the premier Hydro DPS set. The two-piece grants 15% Hydro DMG Bonus, while the four-piece effect increases Normal and Charged Attack damage by 30% for 15 seconds after using an Elemental Skill. This synergises perfectly with Skirk's rotation, where you cast Skill then follow up with on-field attacks.

Alternative: 2-Piece Heart of Depth + 2-Piece Noblesse Oblige

If your four-piece Heart of Depth substats are poor, a split set using 2-Piece Noblesse (20% Burst DMG) can outperform it. This is especially true in quick-swap teams where Skirk spends less time on-field.

Main Stats

  • Sands: ATK% (or Energy Recharge if struggling to burst every rotation)
  • Goblet: Hydro DMG Bonus
  • Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG (balance to a 1:2 ratio)

Substat Priority

CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG > ATK% > Energy Recharge > Elemental Mastery

Aim for at least 130% Energy Recharge to guarantee Burst uptime in most team setups. In teams with a dedicated battery like Xingqiu, you can run less.

Best Team Compositions

Vaporize (Top Damage Ceiling)

  • Skirk / Xiangling / Bennett / Kazuha

The classic Vaporize shell. Bennett provides ATK buff and healing, Xiangling applies persistent Pyro via Guoba and Pyronado, and Kazuha shreds Hydro resistance while buffing Elemental DMG. Skirk drives the team on-field, enabling constant forward Vaporize reactions.

Freeze (Comfort and Crowd Control)

  • Skirk / Ganyu / Diona / Kazuha

Skirk's consistent Hydro application pairs beautifully with Cryo characters. Ganyu provides off-field Cryo through her burst, Diona offers shields, healing, and Cryo resonance, and Kazuha groups enemies and buffs elemental damage. Swap Kazuha for Venti if you prefer stronger grouping in content with lighter enemies.

Bloom / Hyperbloom

  • Skirk / Nahida / Kuki Shinobu / Zhongli

Nahida applies Dendro while Skirk's Hydro generates Bloom cores. Kuki triggers Hyperbloom with Electro, and Zhongli provides a shield and universal resistance shred. This team offers both high damage and strong survivability.

Playstyle Tips

  • Always burst before your Skill in longer rotations. The Burst snapshot benefits from buffs active at cast time, and you want the Abyssal construct ticking while you combo with Skill and Normal Attacks.
  • Funnel energy with a battery. Skirk's Burst cost is 80 energy. Pairing her with another Hydro character like Xingqiu or Yelan significantly reduces energy pressure.
  • Use dash cancels. Claymore Normal Attack strings are slow. Dash-cancelling after the third hit in her combo lets you reset faster and maintain DPS uptime.
  • Invest in her constellations selectively. C1 adds energy generation, making rotations smoother. C2 provides a meaningful damage increase. Beyond that, returns diminish unless you are aiming for C6 showcase numbers.

Is Skirk Worth Pulling?

Skirk is a strong but not game-breaking addition to the Hydro DPS roster. She occupies a similar power bracket to Neuvillette and Tartaglia but offers a different playstyle that favours burst windows over sustained damage. If you enjoy claymore characters and want a versatile Hydro carry who fits into multiple team archetypes, Skirk is a solid investment. If you already have a well-built Neuvillette, pulling for Skirk is more about variety than raw power.

Where Skirk truly shines is in her flexibility. She can pivot between Vaporize, Freeze, and Bloom teams without needing separate artifact sets, which makes her an efficient character to build for players managing limited resin.
