Wuthering Waves 2026 resonator tier list ranking the best characters by performance

How This Tier List Works

This tier list ranks Wuthering Waves Resonators based on their performance in endgame content, primarily Tower of Adversity and challenging overworld bosses. Rankings consider each character at Sequence Node 0 (no duplicates) with five-star Echoes to reflect the experience of most players. Characters with exceptionally strong Sequence Node upgrades receive a note where relevant.

Tiers are defined as follows:

  • S Tier: Best in role. Excels in all endgame content with minimal investment.
  • A Tier: Strong performers. Capable of clearing all content comfortably, though slightly behind S Tier in output or versatility.
  • B Tier: Solid options. Functional in endgame but may require higher investment or specific team compositions to compete.
  • C Tier: Niche or underpowered. Can work but are outclassed by higher-tier alternatives in most scenarios.

Main DPS Tier List

S Tier

  • Jiyan (Aero): The premier Aero DPS. His Resonance Liberation transforms him into an aerial combatant who deals massive Aero damage through wide-reaching slashes. His burst window is one of the highest damage ceilings in the game, and he pairs effortlessly with Aero support sets. Jiyan defines what a main carry should look like in Wuthering Waves.
  • Calcharo (Electro): A technical but devastating Electro carry. Calcharo's Death Messenger mechanic rewards precise input timing with enormous damage multipliers. His skill ceiling is high, but players who master his combos will find him unmatched in single-target scenarios.

A Tier

  • Encore (Fusion): Encore transforms her companion Cosmos into a Fusion damage engine during her Liberation. Her damage is heavily front-loaded into her burst window, making her excellent for speedruns but slightly awkward in sustained fights. Great Fusion options are limited, so she dominates her element by default.
  • Lingyang (Glacio): An aerial Glacio DPS who chains Normal Attacks mid-air during his Liberation. Lingyang's damage output is consistent, but his aerial playstyle can cause targeting issues against mobile enemies. A strong choice for Glacio teams when enemies cooperate.
  • Rover (Havoc): The free protagonist's Havoc variant is surprisingly competitive. Rover's kit is straightforward with reliable Havoc application and decent personal damage. A rare case of a free character being genuinely good in endgame.

B Tier

  • Danjin (Havoc): A four-star Havoc DPS with a unique HP-sacrificing mechanic. Danjin deals strong damage at the cost of survivability, requiring careful health management or a dedicated healer. At higher Sequence Nodes, she becomes significantly better, but at S0 she is a risky pick.
  • Chixia (Fusion): A four-star Fusion pistol user. Chixia's kit is simple and her damage is adequate for early and mid-game content. She falls off in endgame compared to Encore but remains a perfectly serviceable option for newer players.

Sub-DPS Tier List

S Tier

  • Yinlin (Electro): The best off-field damage dealer in the game. Yinlin marks enemies with her Judgement Strike mechanic, which triggers additional Electro damage when the on-field character attacks. Her personal damage is high even off-field, and she generates energy efficiently. She fits into virtually any team that wants extra damage.
  • Changli (Fusion): A Fusion sub-DPS who excels in quick-swap rotations. Changli's Skill deals massive front-loaded damage, and her Outro Skill buffs the next character's Resonance Skill damage. She functions almost like a second DPS in rotation-heavy teams.

A Tier

  • Zhezhi (Glacio): An off-field Glacio damage dealer whose summoned entity attacks in sync with the active character. Zhezhi provides strong supplementary damage and Glacio application, making her the ideal partner for Glacio main DPS units or reaction teams.
  • Mortefi (Fusion): A four-star Fusion sub-DPS who provides coordinated attacks when the on-field character uses Normal Attacks. Mortefi is the budget Yinlin of Fusion teams, and his four-star availability makes him accessible to all players. Excellent value.
  • Aalto (Aero): An Aero sub-DPS with deployable mines and a deception-based kit. Aalto's off-field damage is decent, and his Aero application enables reaction teams. Not the flashiest pick, but reliable.

B Tier

  • Taoqi (Havoc): A four-star Havoc shielder who doubles as a sub-DPS. Her shield is useful but her damage contribution is modest. She works best as a flex slot when you need survivability more than damage.
  • Yangyang (Aero): A four-star Aero character with energy generation utility. Her personal damage is low, but she helps Aero teams maintain burst uptime. A functional battery who gets outscaled in late game.

Support and Healer Tier List

S Tier

  • Verina (Spectro): The undisputed best support in Wuthering Waves. Verina heals the entire team, buffs ATK through her Outro Skill, and provides consistent Spectro application. She fits into every team composition and has no real competition at the top of the support hierarchy. If you pull one five-star, make it Verina.

A Tier

  • Shorekeeper (Spectro): A five-star healer and shielder who provides massive damage buffs through her Resonance Liberation. Shorekeeper's kit is more burst-oriented than Verina's sustained healing, but her team-wide buffs are among the strongest in the game. She is a sidegrade to Verina rather than a direct replacement.
  • Baizhi (Glacio): A four-star healer who provides solid healing and Glacio application. Baizhi is the free alternative to Verina, and while her buffs are weaker, her healing output is sufficient for all content. Every account has access to her, making her the default healer for new players.

B Tier

  • Sanhua (Glacio): A four-star Glacio character who straddles the line between sub-DPS and support. Her Outro Skill provides a useful damage buff, and her personal damage is respectable. She lacks dedicated healing, so she works best in teams with other sustain options.

Who Should You Prioritise Building?

For most players, the recommended build order is:

  • First: One S-Tier or A-Tier main DPS. Jiyan or Calcharo if you have them; Rover (Havoc) if you are free-to-play.
  • Second: Verina. She is your universal support who will never leave your team.
  • Third: A sub-DPS that matches your main DPS element or complements their team. Yinlin for Electro teams, Mortefi for anyone who uses Normal Attacks.
  • Fourth: A second main DPS for the other Tower of Adversity team slot.

Building depth (two full teams) matters more than building breadth (many half-finished characters). Focus your Echo farming on your first team, then expand once that team is comfortable in endgame content.

Meta Outlook

Wuthering Waves is still in its early stages, and the meta will shift as new Resonators are released. Currently, the game favours quick-swap playstyles with burst windows, which is why characters like Jiyan, Calcharo, and Changli perform so well. Sustained on-field carries may become more relevant as new Echo sets and support options are introduced.

The most future-proof investments are Verina (who will always be useful as a healer and buffer) and whichever main DPS you enjoy playing the most. Tier lists inform decisions, but player skill and enjoyment matter more than marginal percentage differences between characters.
