How the Season 42 role tier list is put together
The ranked table above is computed by Elitedias from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang statistics using the formula under "How we calculate tiers" further down this page. The role-by-role list in this section is the editorial view for Season 42.
This tier list is compiled for Season 42 ranked play on the SG and MY servers. Placements come from four dated sources cross-checked against Moonton's Patch 2.2.16 and 2.2.16a notes as mirrored on Liquipedia: mlbbhub's ranked win-rate tracker (snapshot 14 October 2026, Patch 2.2.16a, all ranks, seven-day window), Gfinity Esports' editorial tier list (last verified 12 October 2026), Timesaver's per-role Season 42 guides (30 September to 7 October 2026, which cite mlbbhub and MSC 2026 pro play), and igitems' October 2026 list (5 October 2026). A hero is placed S when at least two sources put them at the top of their role and the tracked win rate sits clearly above the 50 percent baseline. A is strong and reliable across sources, B is viable, C is underperforming this patch or waiting on a buff. Where a source quotes a win rate or ban rate, the source is named next to the number. Moonton does not publish per-hero win rates, so every percentage here is a community tracker figure, not first-party data.
Season 42 tier list by role
Roles follow the in-game primary label. Heroes with two roles are listed once, under the lane they are winning in this patch. "Watch" means nerfed or buffed in 2.2.16a on 14 October; expect movement once a full week of post-patch matches is in.

S tier heroes in Season 42
- Masha (Fighter, S). The 10th anniversary revamp rebuilt her kit: three HP bars, a Wound mechanic, and a Claw Strike cooldown that resets when she loses a life (Liquipedia, Patch 2.2.16). mlbbhub has her at 60.0 percent win rate on 14 October, top of both the fighter and tank boards. Gfinity rates her S as a fighter. She is the single biggest reason the EXP lane meta changed this season.
- Argus (Fighter, S). Patch 2.2.16 buffed his Movement Speed, Warmonger and Meteoric Sword, and reworked Eternal Evil onto a 45 second cooldown (Liquipedia). mlbbhub tracks him at 55.9 percent. No source has him below A.
- Aulus (Fighter, S, watch). His 2.2.16 adjustment added a stun to Power of Axe and cut its cooldown to 10 to 8 seconds (Liquipedia). mlbbhub shows 60.0 percent on 14 October, but 2.2.16a lowered his Enhanced Basic Attack damage and regen and set Aulus, Charge! to a flat 15 second cooldown (Liquipedia, 2.2.16a). Hold him at S for now and re-check after a week.
- Minotaur (Tank, S). 55.1 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity A as a support, Timesaver tier 1 in the EXP lane tank core. Untouched by either patch, which is why he is the safest roam pick on this list.
- Gloo (Tank, S). 54.1 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity A. Unchanged in 2.2.16 and benefits from the tank-heavy EXP meta that the Masha revamp pushed.
- Carmilla (Tank, S). 53.8 percent on mlbbhub and the only S-tier tank on Gfinity's list. Her Vengeance ultimate pairs with the burst that Masha and Argus now bring.
- Khufra (Tank, S). 54.6 percent on mlbbhub, igitems S. No patch change; he is a counter to the dash-heavy assassins that are back in fashion.
- Hirara (Assassin, S, watch). The one jungler every source agrees on: mlbbhub S at 53.4 percent, Gfinity S, igitems S. Timesaver's jungle guide (30 September) quotes a 65.4 percent ban rate from mlbbhub. 2.2.16a raised her Meisen-e cooldown from 9 to 5.5 seconds to 10 to 6.5 seconds while buffing Kaerazu damage (Liquipedia, 2.2.16a). She stays S, with less invincibility uptime.
- Obsidia (Marksman, S). The gold lane consensus: mlbbhub S at 53.7 percent, Gfinity S, Timesaver tier 1 (53.5 percent on 6 October, highest pick rate among the top marksmen). No balance change this patch.
- Popol and Kupa (Marksman, S). 54.5 percent on mlbbhub, Timesaver tier 1 (54.3 percent on 6 October). Also the Season 42 seasonal skin hero (Flamehide Thane, Moonton release note), so expect a higher pick rate for the rest of the season.
- Rafaela (Support, S, watch). mlbbhub's top roamer at 58.8 percent on 14 October, Gfinity S, igitems S. 2.2.16a set Light of Retribution to a flat 5 second cooldown and raised Holy Healing to 10.5 to 9.5 seconds (Liquipedia, 2.2.16a). Still the best support in the game until the post-nerf numbers land.
- Marcel (Support, S). 58.1 percent on mlbbhub with heavy ban pressure (Timesaver, 16 September, citing mlbbhub). 2.2.16 nerfed Skill 1 and Skill 2 and buffed his Ultimate (Liquipedia); the net result has not knocked him out of S.
- Floryn (Support, S). 54.1 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity S. Untouched by both patches and the standard partner for the tank EXP picks above.
A tier heroes in Season 42
- Belerick, Atlas, Barats, Lolita (Tank, A). All sit between 52.0 and 54.0 percent on mlbbhub. Belerick and Barats are in Timesaver's tier 1 EXP tank core. No patch changes to any of the four.
- Lukas (Fighter, A). 2.2.16 buffed his passive and Skills 1 and 2 while trimming Resolve regen on the Ultimate (Liquipedia). 52.7 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity S.
- Sun (Fighter, A). 2.2.16 reworked Doppelganger and all three skills and reduced his roaming resources (Liquipedia). 52.2 percent on mlbbhub.
- Minsitthar, Guinevere (Fighter, A). 51.5 and 51.3 percent on mlbbhub respectively, Gfinity A for Guinevere. Both unchanged this patch.
- Benedetta (Fighter, A). 52.6 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity A. Timesaver's EXP guide places her in the high-skill carry tier.
- Ling (Assassin, A). 52.4 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity A. The jungle pick when Hirara is banned.
- Kadita (Assassin or Mage, A). 2.2.16 cut Movement Speed from 250 to 240 but buffed her passive (Liquipedia). 51.3 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity A in both roles.
- Valir, Gord (Mage, A). The two strongest mid laners by win rate: 53.7 and 52.9 percent on mlbbhub, both A on Gfinity. Timesaver's mid lane guide (7 October) ranks them first and second.
- Kagura (Mage, A). 2.2.16 buffed Seimei Umbrella Open (Liquipedia). 51.8 percent on mlbbhub, Gfinity A, igitems A.
- Zhask, Zetian (Mage, A). 52.2 and 50.9 percent on mlbbhub. Zetian is A on Gfinity.
- Eudora (Mage, A, watch). 51.5 percent on mlbbhub and, per Timesaver's mid lane guide, the highest ban rate of any mage. 2.2.16a reduced Thunder's Wrath damage at every level, centre and outer (Liquipedia, 2.2.16a). Expect her to settle in A or B.
- Bruno (Marksman, A). Revamped in 2.2.16: Powerball and Slide changed, Worldie now stuns and pulls, Volley Shot base damage reduced (Liquipedia). 53.3 percent on mlbbhub, Timesaver tier 1 (53.1 percent on 6 October), Gfinity A.
- Edith, Irithel, Hanabi (Marksman, A). 52.7, 52.4 and 52.1 percent on mlbbhub, all Timesaver tier 2. Edith was buffed in 2.2.16 (Onward, Primal Wrath). Hanabi was nerfed (Petal Barrage bounce falloff) and is still A.
- Estes, Diggie (Support, A). 52.7 and 53.5 percent on mlbbhub. Estes is A on Gfinity and S on igitems.
What changed since Season 40 and 41
Season 41 closed at 21:59:59 server time on 15 September 2026 and Season 42 opened at midnight (Liquipedia, Patch 2.2.16; Moonton release note). Patch 2.2.16 is the 10th anniversary update and the largest balance pass since this page was last rewritten for Season 40.
Reworks. Masha (Wild-oats Fist) received a new kit built around three HP bars, Wound stacks and a Claw Strike reset. Bruno (The Protector) received a new Worldie that hooks, stuns and pulls, with Powerball and Slide changed and Volley Shot base damage reduced. Brody, Kadita, Badang, Clint, Paquito and Luo Yi received visual updates only (GamingOnPhone, 9 September 2026).
Buffs in 2.2.16 (Liquipedia). Kalea, Cici, Alpha, Kagura, Edith, Karina (Dance of Blades cooldown to 6 seconds), Kaja (Ring of Order cooldown 7 to 5.5 seconds plus HP regen), and the adjustment packages for Aulus, Argus, Aldous and Lukas that netted out as buffs.
Nerfs in 2.2.16 (Liquipedia). Melissa (Falling! and Eyes On You!), Miya (Moon Blessing, Moon Arrow), Hanabi (Petal Barrage bounce falloff), Yi Sun-shin (Traceless cooldown 12 to 7 seconds became 12 to 9 seconds), Paquito (Jab damage), Kadita (Movement Speed 250 to 240). Marcel had Skills 1 and 2 nerfed and his Ultimate buffed. Odette's Ultimate now lets her move but lost its second cast.
Mythical Honor battlefield only (Liquipedia). Edith's skill values reverted to standard and Tigreal's Sacred Hammer cooldown dropped from 16 to 13 seconds to 13 to 10 seconds.
Map and systems (GamingOnPhone, 9 September 2026). Sanctum Island was visually rebuilt with three new battlefield effects: Revealing Wisps, Golden Turrets, and the Healing Turtle. Default targeting moved to "Lowest Effective HP", a dash distance indicator was added, and a Multiplayer Training Camp went live.
Patch 2.2.16a, 14 October 2026 (Liquipedia). One buff and four nerfs. Kalea: third basic attack damage 70 (+4 per level) to 120 (+12 per level), 60 percent Movement Speed for 1 second on absorbing the Water Zone, Tidal Strike bonus 8 to 14 percent of Max HP. Aulus: Enhanced Basic Attack damage 135 (+15) to 120 (+12), attack speed flat 20 percent, regen rebalanced, Aulus, Charge! cooldown 14 to 12 seconds became a flat 15 seconds, Undying Fury base damage reshaped. Hirara: Meisen-e cooldown 9 to 5.5 seconds became 10 to 6.5 seconds, Kaerazu damage up. Eudora: Thunder's Wrath centre damage 600 to 1000 (+160 percent) became 540 to 900 (+145 percent), with matching cuts to outer and delayed damage. Rafaela: Light of Retribution flat 5 seconds, Holy Healing 10.5 to 8.5 seconds became 10.5 to 9.5 seconds.
Net effect on the ladder. The season opened with Masha, Aulus and Argus rewriting the EXP lane, Hirara locking down the jungle, and a Rafaela plus tank roam core winning most games below Mythic. 2.2.16a trims four of those five outliers. The tank EXP meta, Obsidia and Popol and Kupa in gold lane, and Valir and Gord in mid are the parts of this list least likely to move before the next patch.
MLBB tier list FAQ
How often is this MLBB tier list updated?
The hero table on this page refreshes from ranked match statistics on a rolling basis, and the editorial above is rewritten after each live-server patch. The current edition is for Season 42, Patch 2.2.16a, updated 15 October 2026. When Moonton pushes a balance patch, expect the top of each role to shift over the following week as win rates settle on the new numbers.
What sources does this tier list use?
Patch facts come from Moonton's release notes as mirrored on Liquipedia (Patch 2.2.16, 16 September 2026, and Patch 2.2.16a, 14 October 2026). Tier placements cross-check four dated community sources: mlbbhub's ranked tracker (14 October 2026), Gfinity Esports (verified 12 October 2026), Timesaver's Season 42 role guides (30 September to 7 October 2026) and igitems (5 October 2026). Moonton does not publish per-hero win rates, so every percentage on this page is a tracker figure and is attributed to the tracker next to the number.
Which heroes are best for solo queue in Season 42?
Pick heroes that win without a coordinated team. In the roam slot, Minotaur, Gloo and Carmilla carry games on their own engage and are untouched by this patch. In the EXP lane, Masha is the strongest pick on every list this season, with Argus close behind. In the jungle, Hirara remains the consensus first pick or first ban even after the 14 October cooldown nerf, and Ling is the fallback. Mid laners should default to Valir or Gord, which top mlbbhub's mid lane win rates at 53.7 and 52.9 percent. In the gold lane, Obsidia and Popol and Kupa are S on every source that places marksmen. Below Mythic, avoid Fanny, Lancelot and Granger this patch: mlbbhub has all three under 44 percent on 14 October.
Which MLBB heroes are worth buying with Diamonds right now?
Buy for your main role first. If you roam, Minotaur, Gloo or Carmilla will still be strong after the next patch because none of them were touched in 2.2.16 or 2.2.16a. If you play EXP, Masha is the pick of the season and her revamp is new enough that most opponents have not learned the matchup. If you play gold lane, Obsidia is the safest spend, with Popol and Kupa second. Hold off on heroes marked "watch" above until a week of post-2.2.16a data is in. If you need Mobile Legends Diamonds to unlock any of them, the Elitedias Mobile Legends top-up page takes your User ID and Zone ID only, with delivery typically 1 to 5 minutes after payment confirmation.
Does Season 42 have an end date yet?
Not as of 15 October 2026. Moonton's Season 42 release note gives the start time (00:00:00 on 16 September 2026, server time) but no end time. The in-game ranked screen shows the countdown once Moonton sets it, and this page will be updated when the Season 43 patch note is published.
